Say what you want about Tim Tebow. Everyone else has.

(stay with me people, even if you’re not a football fan)

I didn’t watch much of the game last night, but I watched a little. I was compelled to tune in and see what this whole “Tebow is starting and winning with only two completions” thing was about.

The knocks on Tebow’s game have been plentiful, and from my seat, justified. The NFL is a throwing league, and Tebow is missing the accuracy and quickness-of-release needed to excel.

Tim Tebow is a curiosity. He’s an enigma. He’s an oddity. He’s winning.

Waking up to the news that Tebow and the Broncos managed to win, defeating the Jets, reminded me of something.

Wanting to win matters.

In a competitive sports league like the NFL, the athletes compete…hard. But some athletes want to win MORE. I’m guessing that Tebow wants the victory badly, more than most. He seems willing to do whatever he has to do for as long as he has to do it to be the victor.

Reminds me of Napoleon Hill’s emphasis on burning desire.

It’s the starting point of all achievement.

What do you want? How badly do you want it? Are you willing to take the risk of wanting it even more? Really, really, really wanting the thing?

This also reminds me of Paul Arden’s little book It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be.

Just how good do you want to be? How badly do you want it?
