It’s time for my favorite show of the year: Phoenix Comicon. This convention is blowing up, with exploding attendance and frivolity. The cosplay peeps have overrun the place, making Saturday at the show feel like a pop culture parade.

Famously, Stephen King used to say that he wrote every day except Christmas, the Fourth of July, and his birthday. Then, in his memoir On Writing, he called that a lie. It was a titillating tale for interviewers. It made good copy.
The truth, he explained, is that when he’s writing something, he writes every day. That means Christmas and Independence Day. Yes, he even writes on his birthday.
You probably knew all that because you’ve already read On Writing, right?
